Star Wars Battlefront 2 actress joins Borderlands live-action movie as villain

The cast of the live-action Borderlands movie is still growing: Deadline reported that Janina Gavankar, the actress of Star Wars Battlefront 2, has signed on to join the Borderlands movie and play the female commander Knoxx, a new original character.

Commander Knoxx is the daughter of General Knoxx, the main villain of the Borderlands 1 DLC "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx". Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford hinted that Janina's character is the villain.

Randy said on Twitter: "Janina Gavankar is joining the Borderlands movie as a brand new character I named specifically for this story. Janina will play Commander Knoxx, and she will follow in her father's footsteps when she joins Atlas's personal legion, the Crimson Lance. Bottom line: she's a badass."

Compared to the other cast members of the Borderlands movie, such as Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Jones and Jack Black, Janina hasn't appeared in many big movies. However, she has appeared in many TV series in recent years, including The Morning Show, Space Force, Better Things and Sleepy Hollow.
