Netflix to launch comic-adapted Japanese drama "Hiyama Kentaro's Pregnancy" in 2022

Today (April 8), the popular manga "Hiyama Kentaro's Pregnancy" announced that it will be adapted into a live-action TV series of the same name, with Saito Takumi playing the male protagonist Hiyama Kentaro and Ueno Juri playing Seto Aki. It is jointly produced by Netflix and Tokyo TV and is expected to start airing next year.

The story of the drama is set in a world where men can become pregnant and have children. The male protagonist Kentaro Hiyama is an ordinary employee working in an advertising agency, but one day he is suddenly found out to be pregnant, and his work partner Seto Aki has never encountered such a situation. The two began to fall into confusion and faced the problems of pregnancy and childbirth together.

The original author, Eri Sakai, said: "In the eyes of the world, Japan is already a country where men are superior to women, but I feel that Japan is actually changing little by little, and I hope to show this to the world through this work." In the work, Kentaro Hiyama also decided to change this prejudiced society where "women's pregnancy is blessed, but men's pregnancy is ridiculed."
