Today (April 2), Warner Bros. Pictures announced that it would shelve several new DC films under development, including "The Trench" directed by James Wan and "A New Gods" directed by Ava DuVernay. Warner said that these projects are not in the current DC plan, so they will no longer be promoted. Warner also thanked the filmmakers who participated in the creation and looked forward to working with them on other DC stories. If these projects are revived in the future, they will hopefully still be created by the original team. According to foreign media Deadline, the development of Trench was shelved because James Wan was also directing Aquaman 2, so there was a scheduling conflict. The development of New Gods was shelved because of problems within the DCEU. The Aquaman spin-off film Trench began production in 2019, produced by James Wan. New Gods began production in 2018, directed by Ava DuVernay. DuVernay currently has another DC project, creating the series Naomi for CW. |
