RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Unit 02 Banshee is the flagship unit of the "UC Plan", a part of the Earth Federation Space Forces reorganization plan. Its design purpose is the same as Unit 1's original purpose of "killing NewTypes", and therefore, it is equipped with the same "NT-D" system as Unit 1.

As a product of the "UC Project", Unit 2 uses a black paint scheme that is completely opposite to Unit 1.
