The record of 2020's hotly-anticipated "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" dominating the Japanese box office for three consecutive months was finally broken last weekend. The final theatrical version of "Gintama", "Gintama THE FINAL", was so popular that it won the first place at the box office last week.

According to the box office statistics of Japanese movies from January 9th to 10th last weekend, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba", which had dominated the box office for 12 consecutive weeks, was dethroned by "Gintama THE FINAL" and ranked second. "Shinjuku: Romance of the Three Kingdoms" ranked third, and another premiered animated film "Sailor Moon" ranked ninth.
