Pixar's "Inside Out 2" surpassed "Frozen 2" this week, becoming the highest-grossing animated film in history, after surpassing "Super Mario Bros." last week. The film has now grossed $1.462 billion worldwide, surpassing Mario's $1.361 billion and Disney Animation's Frozen 2's $1.453 billion. Pixar's highest-grossing animated film was previously "Incredibles 2". As mentioned in previous reports, the 2019 Disney modern version of "The Lion King" movie grossed more than $1.6 billion worldwide, but most people, including the director himself, do not consider it a true animated film. All of the above data comes from Amazon Box Office Mojo website. So far, Inside Out 2 has grossed $598 million in North America and $849 million worldwide, and its North American opening weekend grossed $154.2 million, second only to Barbie. |
