"Deadpool and Wolverine" North American box office forecast for the weekend may surpass "Barbie"

Deadpool vs. Wolverine is set to open in theaters this weekend and is expected to be a huge commercial success. According to tracking estimates, Deadpool vs. Wolverine will gross between $160 million and $170 million in the U.S. on its opening weekend, and between $180 million and $190 million in international markets, for a global opening weekend of up to $360 million.

Deadpool vs. Wolverine is expected to have the highest opening weekend for an R-rated movie, surpassing the current record holder, the original Deadpool ($132.4 million).

By comparison, Inside Out 2, the highest-grossing film of 2024 so far, grossed $154.2 million in its U.S. opening weekend. Meanwhile, Barbie, which opened in the U.S. in July 2023, grossed $162 million in its opening weekend.

According to Deadline, the top five North American opening weekend box office records are:

1. Spider-Man: No Homecoming – $260.1 million

2. Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness – $187.4 million

3. Black Panther 2 – $181.3 million

4. Barbie – $162 million

5. Inside Out 2 – $154.2 million

According to European and American analysis companies, the simultaneous release in mainland China will help "Deadpool vs. Wolverine" further increase its international box office.

At present, many reviews of this work are not very good, and many media have given low scores and bad reviews. But this will not affect too much, because this will be the only Marvel superhero movie in 2024.
