"Monster Hunter" movie director apologizes to Chinese audiences: no offense intended

Germany's Constantin Film recently apologized for the racist lines that appeared in the live-action "Monster Hunter" movie, and the relevant dialogue will be deleted in the new version.

Constantine officially stated: "We sincerely apologize to the Chinese audience for a line of dialogue that appeared in the early scenes of the "Monster Hunter" movie. The movie had absolutely no intention to discriminate, insult or offend any Chinese. Constantine Films has heard the concerns expressed by Chinese audiences and has deleted the lines that led to this unintentional misunderstanding."

Tencent, which is responsible for the domestic distribution of the "Monster Hunter" movie and is an equity partner in the film, is working with the government and relevant departments to salvage the situation by removing the offensive lines.

There was news that a new version of the "Monster Hunter" movie is being produced and will be released in domestic theaters later. It is not clear whether the racist lines in the original movie will be deleted in the version released overseas.
