Bilibili launches 33 new animations, including 13 original IP animations

Bilibili (hereinafter referred to as B station) held a press conference for the 2020-2021 domestic animation works yesterday, announcing the launch of 33 new animation works. The second season of "Yuanlong", the second season of "The Daily Life of the Immortal King", the special episode of "Heaven Official's Blessing", and the special episode of "Mortal's Journey to Immortality" were unveiled.

Li Ni, vice chairman and COO of Bilibili, said: "Watching Chinese-made works is no longer a niche behavior, it is a trend. This year we launched a total of 106 works, and the overall viewing time of users increased by 98%."

At the press conference, Bilibili also brought 13 original IP animations. Regarding the progress of the layout of animated films, Li Ni announced that Bilibili and Light Chaser Animation have reached a strategic cooperation and will jointly produce the animated film "New Gods: Nezha Reborn", which will meet the audience during the 2021 Spring Festival.

At the same time, Bilibili will cooperate with many outstanding production companies in the industry to deeply develop popular IPs. "Hundred Demons" has begun planning an animated film, and Pinta, an original animation production company invested by Bilibili, is also incubating the feature film "Lieshanshi".

"Watching domestically produced works is no longer a niche activity, it is a trend," Li Ni said at the press conference. "In the future, Bilibili will continue to support more outstanding works unswervingly."

In addition, many Chinese works adapted from novels and TV dramas were also unveiled at the conference. The animated work "The Longest Day in Chang'an: White Night Walker" adapted from Ma Boyong's novel is expected to be launched in 2021. The IP of the movie "Detective Chinatown" has officially reached a cooperation with Bilibili, and animation development will be carried out in the future.

"From 2014 to 2024, we have a ten-year agreement with animation." Li Ni said: "We hope that Bilibili can promote domestic animation to become the center of Asian animation, and achieve leading results in production and user scale. We hope that after 2024, Bilibili will be able to support and witness the birth of new Chinese animation superheroes and super works. Only when we have our own animation superheroes can we have the ability to continuously export excellent works and culture to the global market."
