The animated film "Shrek 5" is officially scheduled to be released in July 2026

DreamWorks Animation announced that the animated film "Shrek 5" will be released on July 1, 2026. Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz will all return to voice their previous roles. Previously, Eddie Murphy had revealed that the donkey he voiced in "Shrek the Monsters" will also launch a single-donkey spin-off movie.

By the time Shrek 5 is released, it will have been 15 years since the last mainline Shrek film, Shrek Forever (2010), was released. However, DreamWorks has released two Puss in Boots spin-offs in the meantime, including Puss in Boots 2 in 2022.

Walter Doan is the director. He is the screenwriter and artist of "Shrek 2/3", the story director of "Shrek 4", and also participated in the dubbing. The four films in the "Shrek" series have a total global box office of over 2.9 billion US dollars, and have launched the spin-off film "Puss in Boots", Broadway musicals and theme parks.
