'Avatar' producer Jon Landau dies at 63

According to foreign media reports, James Cameron's long-time partner, "Titanic" and "Avatar" series producer Jon Landau died on July 6, US time, at the age of 63. His son Jamie Landau confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter, but did not disclose the cause of death. Other media said it was due to cancer.

Jon Landau was born on July 23, 1960. Before working with Cameron, he had produced "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" and "Dick T.C.." During his tenure at 20th Century Fox, Landau participated in the production of "Die Hard 2", "The Last of the Mohicans" and "True Lies".

In 1997, he produced and co-produced "Titanic" with Cameron, which received huge box office success and won 11 Oscars worldwide.

From then on, Jon Landau and James Cameron became partners and produced works such as "2002: Float", "Avatar", "Alita: Battle Angel" and "Avatar: The Way of Water".

The first place in the global box office history, "Avatar" with 2.92 billion US dollars, the third place "Avatar: The Way of Water" with 2.32 billion US dollars, and the fourth place "Titanic" with 2.26 billion US dollars are all works of collaboration between Landau and Cameron.
