According to Rolling Stone, Steve Blackman, the creator of Netflix's hit series The Umbrella Academy, has been accused of "malice, bullying, manipulation and vindictive behavior." His actions were reportedly directed at a pregnant female writer who returned from maternity leave to find that her contract had not been extended like her colleagues'. Another pregnant female writer also experienced the same problem. According to complaints received by HR, Blackman repeatedly complained to others that he felt "extorted" and claimed that he fired the pregnant writer because one of them did not tell him the truth. The news was confirmed by other sources, including crew members and personal assistants. Although the two fired writers declined to be interviewed and Blackman's spokesperson denied the allegations, it appears that his career has indeed been negatively affected by the report, which was published on June 30. On Twitter, Cheyenne Roundtree, the Rolling Stone editor responsible for this report, shared the latest news, saying that two projects being developed by the streaming platform and led by Blackman, namely the series adapted from Sony's game "Horizon: Zero Dawn" and the original series "Orbital", are no longer being promoted. These projects may be completely canceled. Netflix has not yet confirmed the news. |
