Tom Hanks in talks to play carpenter Geppetto in Disney's live-action Pinocchio

According to foreign media Deadline, Tom Hanks is in talks to star in Disney's live-action version of "Pinocchio" directed by Robert Zemeckis, playing the old carpenter Geppetto who carved the puppet Pinocchio.

Sources said that the negotiations are still in the early stages, but after reading the script, Hanks has contacted director Zemeckis to express his willingness to star in the film. Chris Weitz, the screenwriter of the live-action "Cinderella", co-wrote the script with Zemeckis.
