"Scream 5" reveals casting of actress Courtney to return

The horror film "Scream 5" has recently revealed the casting news. Actress Courteney Cox, who has appeared in the first four films of the series, will return to play the role of TV reporter Gale Weathers. Paramount announced yesterday that the film will start shooting in North Carolina, USA later this year.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Taylor Gillette, the two directors of "Ready or Not", will direct this new film, and James Vanderbilt and Guy Buecek will write the script.

David Arquette, the male lead who married Courteney while filming four "Scream" movies and later divorced her, also announced in May that he would return to play the role of Sheriff Dewey Riley in the reboot. The plot of the reboot has not yet been announced.

"Scream" is a horror thriller film released in 1996, directed by Wes Craven, written by Kevin Williamson, and starring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, etc. The film tells the story of a young woman in a small town who becomes the target of a killer who wears a mask inspired by Edvard Munch's painting "The Scream", known as "Ghost Face". Sequels were released in 1997, 2000 and 2011, respectively, and these films have earned a total of $608 million at the global box office.
