HBO's Harry Potter series creators and directors confirmed to be broadcast in 2026

HBO's Harry Potter series has been confirmed to be aired in 2026. Francesca Gardiner, the producer of Killing Eve, Succession and His Dark Materials, will serve as the creator and screenwriter of the Harry Potter series. Mark Mylod, the director of Succession and The Menu, will direct multiple episodes of the Harry Potter series. Both are Emmy Award winners.

It has been 13 years since the final Harry Potter movie. In February of this year, Warner officially announced the TV series version to Muggles around the world. It will be broadcast on its streaming platform HBO Max in 2026, and the original novel author J.K. Rowling will serve as executive producer.

The HBO Harry Potter series will have seven seasons, and the plot will be faithful to the original novel. Since there are seven seasons in total, it is expected to be broadcast for ten years.

British writer J.K. Rowling has written a total of 7 Harry Potter novels, which were remade into 8 movies from 2001 to 2011. A world full of magic is a small fantasy in the hearts of all mankind. However, as J.K. Rowling's novels are getting thicker and thicker, the movie version cannot perfectly present the details in the Harry Potter novels due to the length limitation, which makes many fans feel a little disappointed. According to Warner's current plan, each season's plot will refer to the 7 stories in the Harry Potter series and find new inspiration from the books, which means that the script is not limited to the original works.

Although this news makes many fans excited, they are also worried about whether the adaptation will be too much. J.K. Rowling said: "HBO Max is committed to being faithful to the integrity of the original work." So what is certain at the moment is that the "Harry Potter" series will accompany us for many more years.

HBO President Casey Bloys has indicated that a large amount of money will be invested in the production of the "Harry Potter" series, which will be even larger than the "Game of Thrones" prequel series "House of the Dragon".

It is reported that the production cost of "House of the Dragon" is close to 200 million US dollars, which is the largest investment project in HBO's history.
