"Kannagi Crazy Shrine Maidens" - A charming story of a god and a boy

Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens is an original video animation (OVA) released on May 27, 2009, based on the manga of the same name by Eri Murai. It is directed by Hiroshi Yamamoto, produced by A-1 Pictures and Ordet, with Aniplex and Ichijinsha involved. The film is a comedy fantasy about the strange life together of art club member Jin Mikuriya and Nagi, a self-proclaimed god who appears from a wooden spirit statue he carved.

story

Mikuriya Jin, a member of the art club, completes a wooden carving of a spirit statue to be exhibited at a local exhibition. However, the statue suddenly breaks and a girl appears from within. She calls herself Nagi, and claims to be the local guardian deity that has manifested using the statue carved by Jin as a vessel. Nagi has an arrogant personality and suddenly invades Jin's life. She surprises Jin by boasting that she is "the local guardian deity who is the mother of this earth," but Jin ends up living with Nagi.

Nagi is plagued by impure things called "Kegare," but Jin is able to grab the Kegare with his bare hands and saves Nagi. However, Nagi is shocked by this revelation and gives Jin a rolling sobat punch, leading to a series of humorous scenes. To get revenge, Nagi challenges the Kegare with a special weapon, shouting, "Beautiful land goddess Ubusunagami! I will not forgive Kegare, up to their very roots!" Thus begins a legendary story with a family-friendly feel, woven by Nagi, Jin, and the people around them.
