Robert Pattinson talks about why he wants to play the new "Batman": I want to present a newer and more modern Batman

Recently, Robert Pattinson shot the cover and a set of photos for the June-July issue of British GQ magazine, and also accepted an interview with GQ, in which Robert Pattinson himself talked about why he would star in the new Batman movie.

"I barely did anything," Robert Pattinson told GQ about his physical preparation for the new Batman movie. In contrast, Pattinson said his co-star Zoe Kravitz worked out five days a week to prepare for her role as Selina Kyle (Catwoman). Pattinson went on to jokingly tell GQ that during the filming of Twilight, "at one point they asked me to take my shirt off, and then I thought they saw it and wanted me to put it back on."

When asked why he chose to play Bruce Wayne, Robert Pattinson explained that while George Clooney, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck had their own unique takes on the iconic character, Pattinson felt there was more to say about Batman.

British GQ magazine June-July cover

"I think it's an interesting question, as more and more aspects of Batman are presented in movies or in various forms, where is your version of the Batman? People have seen various versions of Batman, so think about: Where is my opportunity? And is there something in me that can work if I can do this? And it's also part of the legacy of Batman, right? I love it. There are very few things in life that people care about passionately before they happen. You can almost feel that the reaction is not what you expected, so it also gives you a little energy. It's different from when you play a role and there's a possibility that no one will see it. Right? In some ways, I don't know, it's uncomfortable."

Currently, the new "Batman" movie is scheduled to be released in North America on October 1, 2021.
