The director of the animated version of "The Little Mermaid" criticized the live-action version: telling a good story is more important than ZZZQ

Last year, Disney's live-action "The Little Mermaid" was criticized by the audience for starring black actress Halle Bailey and distorted CGI special effects. Recently, John Musker, the director of the animated version of "The Little Mermaid", also criticized the live-action version, saying that the animals in the zoo have more expressions than them.

John Musk pointed out that the live-action "The Little Mermaid" movie failed to capture the core story and emotional depth of the animated version. He particularly criticized the performance of CGI animal characters such as Sebastian and Flounder.

John Musk said: "If you want to see crabs, you can go to the zoo to see live crabs, they are more expressive." He emphasized that the real charm of Disney animation lies in its ability to express emotions through clever exaggeration, a quality that is lost in the surreal CGI conversion. "One of the basic characteristics of Disney is the appeal of its characters, which is what animation is best at."

John Musk admitted that there is a large trend of live-action remakes in the film industry, which is a conservative approach taken by filmmakers to reduce risks. He criticized this for lack of originality, and while increasing visual effects, it actually reduces the quality of the story.

John Musk also made suggestions on Disney's pursuit of "political correctness". He believes that keeping up with the times is important, but the so-called correctness should be put in a secondary position, and telling a good story and characters is more important. "Classic Disney movies did not want to convey certain messages from the beginning, but hoped that the audience would resonate with the characters, plots and movie worlds. I think this is still the core value of animation today."

John Musk hopes that future adaptations will be more faithful to the original spirit of the animation. He calls on Disney to re-evaluate the definition of creativity by its predecessors and think about how to introduce these beloved stories to a new generation of audiences.
