Ryan Gosling plays astronaut again in new book adaptation by author of The Martian

Recently, Andy Weir, the author of the original novel of The Martian, confirmed that his new work The Rescue Plan will be published in the spring of 2021. At the same time, MGM Pictures plans to acquire the film for seven figures. Actor Ryan Gosling is currently working on this project and is expected to play the leading role. He will also serve as one of the producers.

It is reported that the story style of the book is exactly the same as Andy's previous work "The Martian", telling the story of a lonely astronaut in a spaceship, whose mission is to save the earth. If the project is negotiated, Gosling will play an astronaut again after starring in "First Man" in 2018.

Previously, the novel "The Martian" was adapted into a movie and was nominated for seven Oscars. It can be seen that "The Rescue Plan" is also a work that is "competing for an Oscar".
