Sylvester Stallone to star in superhero film Overlord

Sylvester Stallone to star in superhero film Overlord

Since his cameo as Starhawk in Guardians of the Galaxy, Sylvester Stallone seems to have an indissoluble bond with superhero movies. Recently, media reported that the old and strong actor will star in an original superhero movie called Samaritan.

Recently, the other actors of the film have been confirmed. Martin Starr, Dascha Polanco, Moises Arias and others will play opposite Stallone in the film. It is understood that the screenwriter of the film is Bragi F. Schutte, the producer of "Escape Room" and "Season of the Witch". In 2018, Julius Avery, the director of "Overlord", which mixed elements of war films and zombie films, will direct the film.

Judging from the behind-the-scenes team and the cast, "Samaritan" has the potential to become a hit. Stallone will play a missing superhero in the film. A boy accidentally learns that a superhero who disappeared in battle 20 years ago may still be alive, so he embarks on a search to try to bring the superhero back to save the world. At present, the film company has not yet announced the superpowers that Stallone possesses, so we can only wait and see. The title of the movie "Samaritan" does exist as an ancient Middle Eastern nation. Currently, there are only more than 600 people left in this nation, most of whom live in the villages left by their ancestors on Mount Gerizim in Nablus. The film is likely to borrow the settings of superhero movies such as "Black Panther" and "Wonder Woman", and arrange the missing superhero in a little-known tribe to unfold the story.

According to the plan, MGM will distribute the film, and Stallone's own Balboa Production will produce the film. The release date is set for December 11, 2020. Stallone's relationship with MGM cannot be said to be not close. In May last year, the first film Balboa established was a film about African-American heavyweight boxing champion Jack Johnson with MGM. The "Creed" series was also a collaboration with MGM.
