According to foreign media Variety, insiders revealed that two new "Transformers" movie scripts are being actively created, one written by Paramount's James Vanderbilt ("Independence Day 2") and the other directed by Joby Harold ("Edge of Tomorrow"). The new Transformers film created by James Vanderbilt will be adapted from the classic 3D animation "Beast Wars" from the 1990s. At present, the details behind the scripts of the two new films are still vague, but according to sources, Paramount has offered the two directors an opportunity to use the IP to create multiple plots. Paramount's most recent film was 2018's Bumblebee, a coming-of-age film that was made on a much lower budget than other Transformers films. This different approach was well received by critics and audiences, grossing $465 million worldwide and providing new opportunities for the Transformers franchise to continue, with Paramount now expanding the Transformers universe by developing two new scripts. |
