The original author of "The Witcher" talks about the comparison between TV series and games: You can't compare pasta with bicycles

The Witcher series of fantasy novels written by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski were adapted into the famous Witcher series of games by CDPR, and recently adapted into a TV series by Netflix, which became a global hit. The second season of the series will also return in 2021. Recently, the original author of The Witcher talked about the comparison between TV series and games in an interview. He said that the two cannot be compared, just like you cannot compare pasta and bicycles.

Andrzej Sapkowski

Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski was recently interviewed by foreign media. When asked how the new TV series compares to games, Sapkowski said that he was not the most suitable person to answer this question because the only games he had played were bridge and poker. In addition, TV series and games cannot be compared because they are too different. He said: "I can't compare anything with games because I have never played any games. When I was a child, I probably never played any games except bridge and poker. Games are not suitable for me at all. I prefer to use books as entertainment. In any case, in my opinion, TV series and games - any of them - cannot be compared. They are too different in method, production and objectivity. You can't compare creamy carbonara with bicycles, although both have advantages and disadvantages."

During the interview, Sapkowski also said that he wasn't heavily involved in the production of the Netflix series because "he doesn't like to work too hard or too long." On the subject of The Witcher Season 2, Sapkowski isn't holding out for much.

The second season of The Witcher TV series will start filming on February 17 this year and will premiere in 2021.
