Damon Lindelof, producer and screenwriter of HBO's Watchmen, said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Watchmen may not have a second season. He said that after making Lost and leaving many holes unfilled, he wanted the audience to fully understand the creation of Watchmen. He also said that he welcomes other creators to try, just like True Detective can have a unified tone without Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrison appearing in every season. “Especially if the creators of shows like Fargo and Watchmen say, ‘No one else can join for another season of Watchmen,’ I think that’s really sacrilegious and really disingenuous,” Lindelof said. “If I were to do another season of Watchmen, I’d have to have a really good idea or a really compelling reason, and I don’t have either of those things right now. But that doesn’t mean it won’t happen at some point in the future.” I just finished the show four weeks ago, and I’m still very much in the creative process, but I’m just hearing some noise. I can’t say there won’t be a second season, and I can’t say there will be a second season. That’s my current thinking.” HBO's "Watchmen" aired all nine episodes of the first season on October 21, 2019. |
