5 Characters in The Witcher TV Series That Are Very Different from the Game

CDPR's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is considered by many to be one of the most influential games of the past decade. The game is based on a series of books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, and tells the story of the mutant monster hunter Geralt. At the end of last year, the Netflix TV series The Witcher, adapted from the novel of the same name, was broadcast, which aroused the love of audiences around the world. However, there are still many characters in the play that are far from the game, but they still retain the characteristics of the original characters. So who are these characters? Let's take a look together.

Dandelion

Dandelion, the famous bard from The Witcher games, not only gets a new look in Netflix's eponymous series, but he also gets a new name - Jaskier. Despite this, he's still one of the most recognizable game characters from the series. Anyone who has played the game will have no trouble connecting the wandering bard Jaskier to the Dandelion they're familiar with. Even though actor Joey Batey speaks with a British accent instead of the American one from the game, Dandelion is instantly recognizable from the first shot of Jaskier.

Triss

Triss may be one of the most important female characters in the game, but her image in the TV series completely subverts the players' cognition. Geralt's red-haired witch friend appeared in episodes 3, 7, and 8 of the TV series, and had a little ambiguity with Geralt. The real-life image is played by British actress Anna Shaffer. Although Triss in the TV series may be quite different from the image in the game, this character is still easy to recognize.

Ermia

Another character who has a different name and appearance in the show is the druid Ermia. In The Witcher, she is Mossak, an advisor to Ciri's grandmother, Queen Calanthe, and a mentor to Ciri during her childhood. A smart and kind man, Ermia is deeply troubled by the consequences of Geralt's escape from his fate with Ciri.

Fringilla Vigo

As a very talented and cold witch, Fringilla Vigour plays a slightly larger role in The Witcher than she does in the game. In the game, Fringilla is only recruited by Geralt to participate in the final battle with the final boss, the Wild Hunt, while in the Netflix TV series, Fringilla leads the warlocks under Nilfgaard.

Emhyr Emreis

One of the most easily misidentified characters in The Witcher is Ciri's father, Emhyr Entris, the future emperor of Nilfgaard. When he first appeared in the show, he was a young unmarried man who lived under a curse and used the pseudonym Duny. His curse was to have a beastly face and was called "Baron Hedgehog". The crew gave actor Bart Edwards heavy "hedgehog" makeup, but the curse was soon broken after he married Ciri's mother.

The second season of The Witcher TV series will begin filming on February 17 and will premiere in 2021.
