According to foreign media reports, Warner Bros. and Cinelytic have partnered to use artificial intelligence (AI) to help the studio decide which movies it should develop in the next few years. Cinelytic founder Tobias Queisser said the new AI technology will help "crunch numbers and break down huge data sets." It is reported that the new AI technology will be used by Warner in the green light stage, during which Warner executives will study a bunch of different data to see if a movie can bring profits to the company. With Cinelytic AI, Warner's goal is to have more accurate data so that they can better attract audiences. The new AI system will also help create an estimate of the expected revenue of a movie. Cinelytic has previously worked with Ingenious Media and Productivity Media. In 2018, Cinelytic raised $2.25 million from T&B Media Global to help with machine deep learning and corporate business. Foreign media said that Warner Bros. is not seeking to use the technology to replace human employees, but rather to speed up the review (green light) process. Queisser told the Hollywood Reporter, "The system can calculate the overall film packaging assessment or how much a star is worth in a few seconds, while a human employee would need several days to do this kind of work." However, Queisser also said that at this stage an artificial intelligence cannot make any creative decisions and still needs human experience and intuition. |
