Hayao Miyazaki's beloved disciple Sunao Katabuchi has established a new animation studio and is actively planning new works

Katabuchi Sunao, a famous Japanese animation director who made a name for himself with the dark horse animation blockbuster "In This Corner of the World", recently announced the establishment of his own new animation company "CONTRAIL". More new animation works are being actively planned and will be produced by his "CONTRAIL" in the future.

· Katabuchi Sunao, born in Osaka in 1960, is a disciple of animation master Hayao Miyazaki, a Japanese animation director and playwright. He graduated from Nihon University and then joined STUDIO 4℃. In June 2017, he won the Jury Award at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France for In This Corner of the World.

·Sunao Katabuchi's representative works include "The Tale of Pollyanna", "Kiki's Delivery Service", "Tsukko of the Seven Seas" and "The Famous Dog Lassie", etc. The new company "CONTRAIL" originally means the trail of smoke and clouds, and Sunao Katabuchi said that the meaning of the name is to produce more wonderful animation works and bring them to more people.
