Netflix's "The Witcher" was officially aired today (December 20). Foreign media IGN and Gamespot both gave their own ratings, but IGN's TV series ratings are based on episodes, and only the first five episodes were rated - 7.4, 7.5, 7.5, 6.8, and 6.9, with an average score of 7.2 for the five episodes. Gamespot gave the show a score of 4. The Witcher episode 1 was very plot-focused, but the dialogue was very thin, which made Henry Cavill's Geralt stand out. The Witcher Episode 2 was full of lore, revealed the show's ugly core conflict, and had a lot of tonal variety in this episode. The Witcher Season 3 delivers a satisfying origin story for Yennefer and adds more to the story by showing her connection to Nilfgaard. The Witcher Season 4 showed some deeper character development, but it was held back by soap opera-like performances and a lack of story progression. The Witcher Episode 5 feels more cohesive, but it hasn't quite found its tone yet. Gamespot: The actors performed very well, and the production and design are faithful to the original, but it is filled with a lot of meaningless and stiff dialogues, and the background story written for Yennefer is confusing.
