The Ghostbusters sequel, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, has been announced, along with a poster, some plot details, the first stills, and a release date for the first trailer. Producer Jason Reitman said the new film will be directly related to the 1984 original, and the cast of characters in the film includes Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and Grace. A mother inherits a farm from a father she didn't know about. The family discovers that this small farm in Oklahoma is full of ghost hunting equipment to save the world. "Once the family arrives at the old farm, they discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters. Trevor and Phoebe will discover the true identity of their grandfather, and they will also take up ghost hunting equipment themselves." The information released today explains a one-minute video released in January that showed the Ecto-1 hiding under a barn, as well as a photo of the Ecto-1 standing in a field. The film is directed by Reitman (Juno), and the script is co-written by him and Gil Kenan. Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two Ghostbusters and Jason Reitman's father, will serve as producer. Five veteran actors, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts, have all confirmed their return in the film. |
