"Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn" or simply "Birds of Prey" is adapted from the comic of the same name under DC Comics and published by Warner Bros. "Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn" is a derivative work based on Harley Quinn, the protagonist of the movie "Suicide Squad" released in 2016, and is also the eighth work of the DC Extended Universe.

The film is directed by Asian female director Cathy Yan, written by Christina Hudson, and stars Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jenny Zemoret-Bell, Rosie Perez, Chris Mechner, Ella Jay Basco, Ali Wong and Ewan McGregor. The plot is set after the events of "Suicide Squad". Harley Quinn joins forces with Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to rescue the young girl Cassandra Cain from the hands of Black Mask, the crime lord of Gotham City.

Earlier, it was reported that "Birds of Prey" is expected to start a trilogy of movies with Harley Quinn as the protagonist, and the second movie "Gotham Phantom" will be based on the comic series of the same name. In addition, several movies about Harley Quinn are also in the development stage, including a movie focusing on her emotional relationship with the Joker.

"Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn" will be released in North America on February 7, 2020.
