Around the World in 80 Days will be made into a TV series with Chinese scenes

David Tennant (Doctor Who, Good Omens) will star in a new series of Around the World in 80 Days. Adapting Jules Verne's famous novel once again, Tennant plays Phileas Fogg, a wise and kind English gentleman. Because of a bold bet, Fogg embarks on a journey around the world in 80 days, including scenes in China. The novel has been adapted into film and television many times, such as the 2004 film starring Jackie Chan and Steve Coogan.

Ashley Pharoah (Life on Mars) and others are the screenwriters, Steve Barron (The Durrells) is the main director, and Slim Film + Television and Federation are the production companies. Filming will start in February next year, filming in South Africa and Romania, and is expected to be released at the end of next year.
