Disney's live-action version of "The Little Mermaid" confirms that filming will begin next year

Disney's live-action version of "The Little Mermaid" has been hotly discussed by netizens since the announcement of the heroine. Earlier, there were rumors that singer Harry Styles would play the male lead "Prince Eric", but he later responded that he would not play the role. Recently, according to foreign media reports, the official has confirmed that new actor Jonah Hauer-King will play the male lead Prince Eric. Jonah Hauer-King has participated in "A Dog's Way Home", "Little Women", "Howards End" and so on.

Disney's live-action version of "The Little Mermaid" is adapted from the classic Disney animation of the same name. Halle Bailey plays the heroine mermaid Ariel, Javier Bardem ("Pirates of the Caribbean 5") plays Ariel's father King Triton, Melissa McCarthy ("Spy") plays the villain Ursula, Jacob Tremblay ("Wonder Boy" and "Room") and Awkwafina ("Crazy Rich Asians" and "Ocean's 8") play Ariel's friends Flounder and Scuttle the seagull. Daveed Diggs ("Hamilton" and "Wonder Boy") is in talks to play the red crab Sebastian.

The Little Mermaid is directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha, Into the Woods) and is expected to start filming in early 2020.
