Super bloody and on par with "Deadpool"! Harley Quinn leads "Birds of Prey" and will be rated R

According to foreign media reports, there have been recent news that Warner's upcoming DC female superhero team-up movie "Birds of Prey" will be an R-rated movie. This news comes directly from the film's female director Yan Yuqian. "Birds of Prey" is currently scheduled to be released in North America on February 7, 2020.

Although DC superhero movies have always been serious and the action scenes are very intense, they also try to choose to shoot the film at a PG-13 level (special guidance level), and are very restrained in scenes such as bloodshed and violence. After all, if it is rated R, there will be fewer theaters showing it.

Since Deadpool became a huge hit with its R-rated movie, Logan was also made into an R-rated movie and sold well, which seems to have stimulated DC. From the perspective of the original comics, Deadpool and Logan are relatively violent, and making them R-rated is like letting go to make the movie closer to the spirit of the original.

Birds of Prey tells the story of a team of superheroes led by Harley Quinn to fight crime. However, since the leader is Harley Quinn, this team must not take an ordinary route. The members of the Birds of Prey team also include Black Canary, Huntress, Renee Montoya, and Cassandra Cain.

The current cast includes: Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, and Rosie Perez as Detective Renee Montoya.

Cathy Yan, the director of Birds of Prey, is directing a commercial blockbuster for the first time. She was previously the producer of Ladder to Heaven: The Art of Cai Guo-Qiang and directed a feature film Floating City on the Sea. Regarding directing Birds of Prey, Cathy Yan said: "The reason why I accepted the job of Birds of Prey is because I did enough homework. After I read the script, I liked it very much because the script has black humor and the theme of feminism, which resonated with me. When I explained my creative concept to Warner, I made a special video. I did not borrow materials from other movies to mix and match, and I chose the materials that best express my ideas and concepts to edit. I believe I belong to this movie."
