Suspected of plagiarism? The producer of Huang Xiaoming's film "The Bravest" was sued

The movie "The Bravest", directed by Chen Guohui and starring Huang Xiaoming, Du Jiang and others, was a hit in the summer and had a box office of over 1.6 billion yuan, but the movie has recently been involved in a lawsuit.

On November 10, the official Weibo account of Beijing Haidian Court released a case report. The plaintiff Li claimed that the film "The Bravest" plagiarized his copyrighted work "Flamingo" in many aspects, and sued the eight production and distribution companies of the film to the court, demanding an order to immediately stop publishing and distributing the film "The Bravest", issue a written statement to publicly apologize and compensate for economic losses of 3 million yuan. Recently, the court has accepted the case and the case is under further trial.

The plaintiff, Li, claimed that in 2018, his original novel "Flamingo", which showed the real work and life of firefighters, was serialized online. In July 2019, at the request of the Cultural Development Publishing House, the paper novel "Silent Fire" was officially published. In August 2019, the movie "Heroes of Fire" was a hit in theaters. After comparison, he found that the movie "Heroes of Fire" plagiarized the plaintiff's work "Flamingo" in terms of story background, character settings, character relationships, main plot settings, special details, and ending arrangements.

The plaintiff Li believed that the film "The Bravest" published by eight companies including China Film Distribution Co., Ltd. and Bona Film Group Co., Ltd. plagiarized a large number of his works, seriously infringing his copyrights such as the right to adapt his works and the right to obtain remuneration for his works. Therefore, he sued the court, demanding that the eight companies immediately stop publishing and distributing the film "The Bravest", apologize to him publicly in a written statement approved by the national media or the court, and compensate him for economic losses of 3 million yuan.

It is reported that the film "Heroes of Fire" clearly mentioned in the poster and the main film that the film was adapted from Baoerji Yuanye's long reportage "The Deepest Water is Tears", which was based on the "Dalian July 16 oil explosion fire" in 2010. The rescue process of this fire can be called "a miracle in the history of world firefighting." At present, the production team of "Heroes of Fire" has not responded to this matter.
