Netflix's The Witcher will focus more on Yennefer and Ciri

On November 1, Netflix officially announced that The Witcher TV series will be released on December 20 and released a Chinese trailer. According to a recent Netflix seminar, producer Lauren S Hissrich revealed that this much-anticipated adaptation will focus on Yennefer and Ciri, rather than Geralt the White Wolf.

Hissrich said: "There are eight novels in the original work, and I have read them all. I think we will start with short stories to explain the origins of the wizards to the audience. But I want to introduce Ciri and Yennefer first, and the audience will meet her (and really understand her) before Ciri starts to interact with other characters in a familiar way."

Inevitably, some fans asked what would happen to Geralt, played by superstar Henry Cavill. Hissrich clarified that Geralt would get fair screen time, but Ciri and Yennefer were also essential and important characters. "We need to understand them individually, and then we can understand 'them' together."

In fact, this is also part of Hissrich's "faithfulness to the original." Ciri became the protagonist in the early and middle stages of the novel, and Yennefer's role in the novel is much more important than in the game. In addition, according to Hissrich, the original author Andrzej Sapkowski shed tears on the set - tears of happiness.

The Witcher TV series will be released on Netflix on December 20th.
