Report: Uncle Benjen from Game of Thrones joins Amazon's Lord of the Rings as villain

According to DeadLine, Joseph Mawle, who played Benjen Stark in the popular American TV series "Game of Thrones", will play the villain in Amazon's epic "Lord of the Rings". After contacting Amazon for confirmation, Amazon said it had no comment.

This new Middle-earth saga, which continues the "Lord of the Rings" movie trilogy, is reportedly set in the Second Age, also known as the "Age of Numenor". The Second Age saw the development of the elven city of Rivendell, the dark lord Sauron forged the famous One Ring, and the elves, humans, and dwarves all united to fight for it. This period of time spans about 3441 years, so there will be a lot of potential stories.

Amazon has also cast a wide net in its search for actors for this big investment project. Although the official has not given a precise cast list, DeadLine revealed that the protagonist duo will be young heroes named Beldor and Tyra, played by Will Poulter and Markella Kavenagh respectively. Mawle, who played Benjen Stark in "Game of Thrones", got the villain role named "Oren".

The specific filming work is scheduled to begin next year and is expected to premiere in 2021.
