Jason Statham: Chinese action stars are more realistic and give me inspiration

The first spin-off film of the "Fast & Furious" series, "Fast & Furious Hobbs & Shaw", will be released in domestic theaters on August 23. Starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, director David Leitch and screenwriter Chris Morgan came to Beijing yesterday afternoon to attend the film promotion event.

In an interview with the Global Times, Jason Statham, who is known as Guo Da, talked about Chinese action stars. Statham said that compared with Hollywood stars, Chinese action actors are more credible and all his inspirations come from Chinese action stars, such as Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen and other martial arts superstars.

Jason told the Global Times: "Chinese action stars do everything by themselves. They interpret the characters themselves... but Hollywood will stick the faces of stars onto stuntmen. In Hollywood, it is very easy to make people look good... so throughout my career, all my inspirations come only from people like Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jackie Chan and Donnie Yen. Because they are real."

Jason Statham has previously collaborated with Jet Li in many films, including "Bandandor," "Mission Impossible" and "The Expendables" series.
