Late last year, a rare early Superman magazine, ACTION COMICS, sold at auction for $3.18 million. That was an impressive figure, but now a single Spider-Man comic page has been sold for $3.36 million, breaking the auction record. This page is from the original Secret Wars #8 by comic book artist Mike Zeck, in which Spider-Man first acquires his iconic black symbiote suit. In the comics, Spider-Man's original suit became tattered during Secret Wars, after which it was replaced by an alien symbiote that eventually became part of one of Spider-Man's greatest foes, Venom. It started at $330,000 at Heritage Auctions in Dallas and ultimately reached more than $3 million, breaking the previous record of $657,250 set by artists Herb Trimpe and Jack Abel in 2014 for Wolverine's debut in The Incredible Hulk #180. |
