Cinema denies Shanghai Fortress box office fraud: interns made mistakes in scheduling

On August 8, it was revealed that Lu Han's new film was cross-screened at Xi'an Oscar Sunshine International Cinema and the seats were full, which led to suspicion of box office fraud. On August 9, Xi'an Oscar Sunshine International Cinema officially responded that the cross-screening of "Shanghai Fortress" was caused by an intern's operational error, and there was no box office fraud.

Shanghai Fortress is a sci-fi film directed by Teng Huatao and starring Lu Han, Shu Qi and others. It was released on August 9. On the evening of August 8, some media disclosed that Shanghai Fortress had overlapping screening times in the same theater at Oscar Sunshine International Cinema (Sunshine City Store) in Xi'an. The cinema scheduled 37 screenings of Shanghai Fortress on August 9, with an average screening time of 35 minutes per show before 12:00, and all the screenings were full, which was suspected of box office fraud.

On August 9, Oscar Sunshine International Cinema in Xi'an issued a statement on Weibo, saying that the cross-scheduling of Lu Han's new film "Shanghai Fortress" was due to an intern's operating error. Sina Entertainment once again contacted the cinema to verify the matter, and the cinema responded that the cross-scheduling was indeed due to an intern's operating error during the practice of scheduling, and that it had been adjusted in time in the morning and the scheduling was normal. At the same time, it denied the existence of "buying box office" and emphasized that the cinema was operating in a regular manner.
