After Batgirl was cancelled, DC Films President is on the verge of leaving

DC Films president Walter Hamada was reportedly on the verge of leaving the company after the cancellation of the Batgirl film, but has now agreed to stay at the studio until at least after Black Adam hits theaters on October 21.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the news of the suspension of the "Batgirl" project was only notified to Hamada at the preview of "Black Adam". Hamada was extremely unhappy that he was not involved in the decision-making. The report said that he was also worried that the news would have an adverse impact on the cast and crew of the film.

Now, Hamada is apparently negotiating his departure, but has been persuaded to stay on until after Johnson's DC movie debut is released. "He has put negotiations on hold, not wanting to make this a bitter decision," a source said. Hamada is currently under contract until 2023.

It is no secret that Warner Discovery CEO David Zaslav wants to make a big reshuffle of DC movies, and he also wants to find a leader like Kevin Feige of Marvel. Under such a business idea, the current president Hamada must have a hard time, and the cancellation of "Batgirl" is just one of the phenomena.

In addition to Batgirl, the company has quietly removed several movies from HBO Max. There are rumors that the Supergirl movie version will also be canceled. The future of HBO Max is also unclear. They will merge with the Discovery + channel in 2023 and will no longer be named HBO.

Zasloff recently stated that DC movies will now be developed according to a ten-year plan, which is similar to the development plan of the MCU.
