After the Batgirl movie was canceled, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah received support from multiple producers, including Kevin Feige, Edgar Wright and James Gunn. After the news broke, Feige sent an email to El Arbi and posted the content on Instagram: "My friend, I want to tell you that we have been thinking about the two of you. This is because of the happy news of your marriage (congratulations!) and the sad news of "Batgirl". Proud of all your work and your participation in "Ms. Marvel"! We can't wait to see your next work and hope to see you soon." This news is in stark contrast to the statement made by Warner Discovery CEO David Zaslav on the cancellation of Batgirl. "We don't put out any movie that's not ready," Zaslav said. "We don't put out a movie for the sake of immediate profit. We don't, the key is not, pursue the attitude of trying to do it well. This is DC, we want to do better, and now we pursue this." Outside the company, James Gunn, Edgar Wright and "Batgirl" star Leslie Grace all came out to express their support for the "Batgirl" director. |
