The new version of The Legend of Sword and Fairy 1 is a remake of the original game, not the old version of The Legend of Sword and Fairy 1. As for why Tang Yu is retained as one of the protagonists, there are two reasons: the current literary and artistic market prefers group dramas rather than single male lead dramas, and appropriate adaptation is more conducive to the presentation of the plot; Tang Yu was one of the controllable characters in the original abandoned draft of the game, but was deleted due to the limited capacity of the DOS system in the early years. The change back in the drama was not to fit the 2005 version of The Legend of Sword and Fairy 1. It was based on the original script of the game, including the abandoned draft.

The online drama "Chinese Paladin" is produced by Shanghai Tencent Penguin Pictures Culture Communication Co., Ltd. The current cast includes He Yu ("My Neighbor Never Grows Up") as Li Xiaoyao, Yang Yutong ("Sweeping Dark Storm") as Zhao Linger, Hu Yixuan as Anu, and Ye Shengjia as Tang Yu. Directed by Yang Long, the director of "The Darker Side of the Darker Side", the series has a total of 40 episodes, each lasting about 45 minutes. The series is expected to premiere in 2022.
