Disney confirms reboots of classic films 'Home Alone' and 'Night at the Museum'

Disney has officially announced plans to reboot the classic film series "Home Alone" and "Night at the Museum". The news came from CEO Bob Iger's speech during Disney's quarterly earnings conference call today (7). Although many details such as when the reboot will take place are still unclear, this does put an end to the rumors that have been circulating for a long time.

"Home Alone", "Night at the Museum", "A Lot of Kids" and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" were all 20th Century Fox's franchise IPs, and became Disney's property after Disney spent $71.3 billion to acquire it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Iger said: "We will focus on leveraging Fox's vast library of excellent films to further enrich the content portfolio of our (direct-to-consumer) platform."

Iger did not specify whether the reboot project would be a movie or a TV show. Among them, "Night at the Museum" is the best-performing one, with a revenue of $540 million in the United States, and it is likely that the reboot will start with it.

Earlier, there were rumors that Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, was involved in the production of an R-rated "Home Alone", the theme of which was how he guarded his home while drunk... and what we can confirm now is that a large part of Disney's current reboot project is aimed at its newly launched Disney+ subscription service. Such a company that has always been friendly to "family elements" is unlikely to transform "Home Alone" into an R-rated movie.
