At the Television Critics Association (TCA) annual meeting, Showtime announced six cast members for the Halo TV series, including Pablo Schreiber, who plays the Master Chief. The series is scheduled to premiere in the first quarter of 2021. According to a press release from Showtime, "Natascha McElhone will play two characters - Dr. Catherine Halsey, creator of the Spartan super-soldier, and Cortana, the most advanced humanoid AI and key to the survival of the human race." In addition, veteran actors Bokeem Woobine and Shabana Azmi will also join Halo. "Woodbine will play Soren-066, a morally complex marauder who exists on the edge of human civilization. His destiny will bring him back to meet his former boss and old friend, the Master Chief. Azim will play Admiral Margaret Parangosky, head of Naval Intelligence." "The series will add three new characters to the Halo universe. Bentley Kalu will play Spartan Vannak-134, a mechanized super soldier who was conscripted as a child and serves as the Master Chief's second-in-command. Natasha Culzac will play Spartan Riz-028, a focused, professional, and ruthless killing machine. Kate Kennedy will play Spartan Kai-125, a brave, curious, and deadly Spartan super soldier."
