"One Hundred Years of Solitude" is a novel written by Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez. It is his masterpiece and also a representative work of Latin American magical realism literature. It is praised as "a masterpiece that reproduces the historical and social picture of Latin America."

The story tells the rise and fall of the town of Macondo and the Buendía family, and the legendary story. It records the fate of the family and its century-long history. It is a repetitive narration of the same and absurd fate. It is a microcosm of the fate of Latin American countries for hundreds of years. It is a unique metaphor for the establishment, development and end of human "civilization" history, and interprets the fateful reincarnation in desolation, loss and absurdity. The names of the characters in the family are the same or similar, indicating that they have a lonely fate with different paths but the same destination. "One Hundred Years of Solitude" begins with Buendía being tied to a tree and ends with him being eaten by ants. Through delicate and rich brushstrokes, bold and free imagination, and magical narrative art, it tells the fate and history of the Buendía family, portrays the lonely soul and self-salvation of the characters, and then reflects the compassion and loneliness of individuals, families and all mankind, allowing people to rethink the development of the times and changes in human nature.
