Spider-Man: Far From Home surpasses $1 billion in global box office

The global box office of "Spider-Man: Far From Home" has exceeded 1 billion US dollars. This is the first time that a "Spider-Man" movie has achieved this result without considering inflation.

This is the second time Sony has reached the $1 billion box office record, the first being 2012's "Skyfall."

Spider-Man: Far From Home grossed $333 million in the U.S. and $672 million overseas, for a total of $1.005 billion. This achievement also surpassed the $880 million of its predecessor, Spider-Man: Homecoming. The other two films that broke the $1 billion box office this year were also Marvel movies, namely Avengers: Endgame, which set a new box office record, and Captain America: The Last Airbender.

Spider-Man: Far From Home may have benefited from the box office boost of Avengers 4. Although Spider-Man embarks on his own adventure, many of the plots are inextricably linked to Avengers 4.
