Mad Max 4 director confirms sequel is in development

Movies like "Mad Max 4: Fury Road" starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are expected to have a sequel, "Mad Max 5". Recently, director George Miller said in an interview that although he currently has some disputes with Warner Bros., it is clear that there will be a sequel.

In an interview with foreign media IndieWire, George Miller talked about future plans, including a sequel to the series. He said: "We have prepared two stories, both related to 'Mad Max', one of which is about Commander Furiosa (Charlize Theron's role). We are still in development and need to resolve some issues (with the producer Warner), but it is clear that there will be a sequel."

Mad Max 4 tells the story of former highway patrolman Max (Tom Hardy) who becomes the driver of Commander Furiosa's (Charlize Theron) chariot and flees across the desert with five women. Furiosa was originally a capable general under the brutal ruler "Immortal Joe", but she chose to defect and took Immortal Joe's five "breeders".

The film's bleak doomsday scenes and rough fighting scenes have driven moviegoers around the world crazy. It was screened at the Beijing International Film Festival in April this year and tickets were hard to come by.

In November 2017, George Miller sued Warner Bros., claiming that the latter has so far refused to pay him millions of dollars in bonuses for making the film. Under this circumstance, it is unknown whether Warner and Miller are still likely to cooperate.

At last year's SDCC, the film's star Tom Hardy also revealed that he had signed a contract for three "Mad Max" movies. "The previous plan was to shoot a trilogy, so I have been waiting for the opportunity to play the next part and waiting for the movie to pass the green light. In fact, when I was involved, there was a lot of material to shoot."
