According to Japanese media reports, Hong Kong's famous director Johnnie To and actor Tony Leung Chiu-wai have teamed up again after 27 years to shoot a gangster-themed movie. The film will start shooting this winter, mainly in Hokkaido, Japan. Director Johnnie To also arrived in Sapporo recently to inspect the location. The film will be released in 2027 and is highly anticipated by fans.

It is reported that Johnnie To has started scouting locations in Sapporo and other places since January 29. The main scenes of the film are set in Hokkaido, and the story focuses on the conflict between Hong Kong gangs.

Johnnie To is well-known for his expertise in filming gangster themes. His representative works include "The Birth of a Gangster", "Gunfire", "Election" and "Election: Peace is the Most Important Thing", which are all influential classics. Johnnie To, who debuted 45 years ago, is one of the most representative directors in the Hong Kong film industry, but he and Tony Leung Chiu-wai have only collaborated on four films in the past, namely "Beach Boy and Mrs. Chow", "Kick the Treasure" and "Dark Flower". The two have not collaborated for 27 years.

Previously, Tony Leung Chiu-wai revealed that he will produce and star in an action drama about an Asian father-daughter relationship, which is planned to be shot in Japan or South Korea. It has not yet been confirmed whether this film will be a new collaboration with Johnnie To.
