New Line Cinema has officially announced that it will be making a movie adaptation of the 1978 arcade classic "Space Invaders." According to the well-known film and television media DeadLine, Warner Bros. obtained the adaptation rights of the series of games a few years ago, and now finally intends to let New Line Cinema start production. At present, the specific cast and director information of the film has not been announced. The only official information is that Warner has invited Greg Russo (the screenwriter of the "Mortal Kombat" and "Resident Evil" adaptations) to write the script. The originator of STG, "Space Invaders", first appeared in arcades in 1978 and quickly became a phenomenal game. It was later ported to various Atari systems such as Atari 2600/2500. This game developed by Japan's TAITO and its derivative sequels have now landed on various platforms as classics, almost becoming a symbol of the arcade era. Nintendo has previously announced that it will launch a game called "Space Invaders: The Invincible Collection" on Switch in 2020. |
