Universal selects director of Insidious 3 to direct the lead role of The Invisible Man

The British actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen has confirmed that he will play the leading role of Dr. Jack Griffin in Universal's new film "The Invisible Man". Oliver Jackson-Cohen was born in 1986 and is 1.91 meters tall. He is the son of David Cohen and British fashion designer Betty Jackson. He has starred in TV series "The Haunting of Hill House" and "The Orange Shirt", and movies "Long Distance Love" and "Revenge".

The film will be directed by Leigh Whannell (Insidious 3, Upgrade), and many powerful actors Elisabeth Moss, Aldis Hodge, Harriet Dyer, and Storm Reid have already announced that they will join the film. The film is adapted from the 1933 film of the same name. The story tells of a genius scientist who invented an invisible reagent that can make people invisible after drinking it. Although the reagent is effective, unfortunately, the side effects make the scientist's personality become eccentric, and gradually, he becomes an invisible killer. The film will start shooting in Sydney this month.

Universal had previously wanted to create a "Dark Universe", and the five main characters initially confirmed were Nick Morton played by Tom Cruise, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde played by Russell Crowe, the Mummy Princess played by Sofia Boutella, Frankenstein played by Javier Bardem, and the Invisible Man played by Johnny Depp. The Mummy, the opening film of the "Dark Universe" that was hyped up at the time, starred Tom Cruise and had a production cost of $125 million, but the global box office was $409 million (all data from IMDb), which was very unsatisfactory. Universal's new strategy is not to create a linked "Dark Universe" as originally planned, but to invite creative and distinctive directors to reshape these classic characters.
