Just Cause movie adaptation to be written by John Wick screenwriter

With the success of "John Wick 3" in North America last week, it earned more than 57 million US dollars in the three-day weekend, setting a record for the best opening performance of the trilogy. It can be said that the screenwriter of the series, Derek Kolstad, is indeed a master of action movies. And now this action master has confirmed that he will participate in the film adaptation of "Just Cause".

German production company Constantin Films (currently also responsible for the "Monster Hunter" movie) has obtained the rights to the "Just Cause" movie and invited Kolstad to write a script that fits the rhythm of the movie. The producers will be Robert Kulzer and Adrian Askarieh, who participated in the production of the "Resident Evil" and "Hitman" movies respectively.

According to a report by foreign media Variety, this project will be the next priority for Constantin Films and is scheduled to start filming in 2020. Another Just Cause movie that was circulated in 2017, in which Jason Momoa played Rico, has apparently been aborted.

Kolstad was previously appointed to work on another game adaptation, a TV series based on the Hitman universe. Also in 2017, Hulu announced the production of an American TV series focusing on Agent 47, but there has been little news since then.

More and more games are announced to be adapted into movies/TV series, but not many of them are really successful. The recent box office success of "Detective Pikachu" is difficult to replicate due to the different types of movies. Perhaps players can first look forward to the performance of "The Witcher" TV series that Netflix has already completed filming.
